Dave joined CPP in 2007 as a special projects engineer following four years in the aerospace industry. He earned an SB (equivalent of a BS) in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT in 2000 and completed an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2002. His graduate research focused on a form of large eddy simulation (LES) for high Reynolds number flows on relatively coarse unstructured meshes. Dave's professional experience includes work in computational fluid dynamics, high-performance parallel computing, and the modeling and simulation of aerospace systems.
Dave has completed long distance hikes in the Swiss Alps and Scottish Highlands, but he spends most weekends closer to home hiking, backpacking, or skiing in the backcountry of Colorado. In addition to English, Dave speaks German and has studied at the Goethe-Institut in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, where he earned Zertifikat Deutsch language certification.
